Tips for Cooling Off During Summer

Summer is the best time to bask in the sun and get a tan. On the other hand, others deem the hot and humid weather unbearable. Still, whether you like it or not, it’s essential that you are aware of proper sun care. The Philippines is a tropical country, and it experiences high heat indexes of 51 degrees Celsius

There are many ways to cool off your body naturally during the summer season. Here are tips on how you can do so:

Shower regularly

It might seem like a waste of money to shower frequently in a single day, but if you are working from home, you can’t afford to get distracted by the noon’s annoying heatwave. In fact, electric fans will probably work against you once the temperature hits 36 degrees by blowing hot air in your face. But soaking your body in liquid can provide you with temporary relief, even if it only lasts a few hours.

Wear the right outfit

Have you ever seen a person work out at the gym in a winter coat and jeans? No one should wear thick clothes unless for particular activities. Wear lightweight clothes when going out at noon.

Sports apparel is often made with materials that adapt to such environments, so it would be wise to shop for some suitable clothing from Sports Central.

Use an umbrella

Never underestimate what an umbrella can do for you under the clear summer sky. A portable shade never hurt anyone, especially long walkers and wayward travelers. Umbrellas prevent harmful UV rays from affecting your health. They also prevent your gadgets (laptops, phones, and tablets) from getting too much sun, affecting their performance if they’re susceptible to overheating. Old devices usually have this problem, and an umbrella can make all the difference.

Bring a bottle of water with you

Sometimes the best solutions are the simplest ones. Bring a bottle or a thermos of water with you wherever you go, especially if you see yourself traveling on foot for extended periods. Room temperature water can certainly help hydrate your body when you need to, but with warm or even hot water, you can get your body to cool off from the inside. The long story short of it is that the hot water causes the drinker to sweat more than usual.

Lastly, if you’re not on a diet, eating and drinking cold food can help cool you off, if only temporarily. The problem with sweetened drinks is that they usually have ingredients that induce thirst after a while.

The same goes for iced desserts, though there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself with the good stuff once in a while. The summer heat can be unbearable at times. But when you think about it, you can make the most out of the situation if you plan your day properly.
