Exercises to Jumpstart Your Active Lifestyle
Posted by Leapout Digital onLounging all day long sounds tempting, but it’s a habit you should get out of your system. Sports scientists have found that sitting for long periods increases the risk of diseases like diabetes and heart ailments.
Don’t let this be you! It’s not too late to change and live a healthier and more active lifestyle. Integrate physical activities into your life and create a balance between light exercises to rigorous workouts. This way, you won’t get bored quickly and will likely be motivated to follow through.
Check out Sports Central’s list below of fitness activities you can start doing tomorrow.
Jogging
Jogging is the easiest workout anyone can do. It trains your legs, burns your fat, helps with weight loss, and enhances lung capacity. There are so many benefits to jogging that simply doing the exercise for an hour can vastly improve one’s health.
Choose between doing a full hour jog or a 15-minute set, then return to it after performing other exercises. Just remember not to do it barefoot, as you’ll tire yourself out immediately. Instead, wear a pair of trusted running shoes to keep your feet relatively pain-free.
Squats
Squatting may not seem like much, but it’s an incredibly effective workout that increases the strength of your thighs and calves. At the same time, it works out your hip and core strength.
To do this strength exercise, start by standing straight with space between your feet. Bend your knees while sending your hips back as if sitting on an invisible chair. Your thighs should not bend past the knee. Pause for a second and then return to the previous standing position.
Planking
Planking is another one that looks easy to pull off but is actually difficult. You plant your hands or wrists firmly on the ground, then straighten your back and hold your body up for a set time.
If you’re new at this core exercise, aim for a 20-30 second plank first, then keep building from there. A set of 3 with 2 minutes each rep will do wonders for your core. Planking creates tension in your body, usually absent for people who work behind monitors daily. It’s a simple exercise that, if done right, can produce excellent results for your body.
Burpees
Combining planking, squats, and jumping-jacks, burpees are a full-body exercise that should be in your routine to achieve your fitness goals. It’s done by jumping then doing a speedy squat to get your upper body to a floor level. Stay in a planking position for a second or two before reversing the order of the exercise.
Burpees pretty much improve your strength and endurance while also keeping your body active enough to lose some calories along the way.
There are plenty of activities for people to get into these days. It’s all a matter of getting your head wrapped around the idea of loving these activities and doing them regularly.
